About the Role

We are seeking experienced and passionate curators to join our contemporary art gallery. As a curator, you will be responsible for overseeing the curation and management of our art exhibitions, ensuring the highest standards of artistic excellence and visitor engagement. You will work closely with artists, collectors, and gallery staff to create a dynamic and compelling exhibition program that reflects the gallery's vision and mission.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement an innovative exhibition program that showcases contemporary art in various mediums, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, installations, and digital art.

Conduct research and stay updated on current trends, emerging artists, and relevant art movements to curate exhibitions that are relevant and engaging.

Collaborate with artists, collectors, and other stakeholders to select artworks for exhibitions, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presentation.

Coordinate logistics for each exhibition, including artwork transportation, installation, lighting, and labeling.

Write exhibition texts, artist statements, and promotional materials to provide context and enhance visitor understanding and appreciation of the artworks.

Conduct guided tours, talks, and workshops to engage visitors and promote a deeper understanding of the artworks and artists.

Foster relationships with artists, collectors, and art institutions to expand the gallery's network and potential collaborations.

Manage the gallery's art collection, including acquisitions, loans, and conservation efforts.

Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and sales potential of artworks to assist in sales and acquisitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a curator in a contemporary art gallery or museum setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary art, art history, and art theory.

  • Strong aesthetic sensibility and ability to curate exhibitions that engage and challenge viewers.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with artists, collectors, and gallery staff.

  • Proficiency in art handling, installation techniques, and exhibition design.

  • Familiarity with art market trends, pricing, and sales strategies.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
