Güray Museum
Güray Museum, located within the borders of Avanos district in Cappadocia, was established with a contemporary approach to museology. Avanos, a town in the Cappadocia region, one of Turkey’s largest cultural, historical, and natural heritage areas, has hosted the pottery tradition that has been ongoing since the Hittites.
Discovering The Magic
The building, which houses exhibition halls, social activity areas, and other service units, has been carved into the rock and constructed 20 meters below ground level, covering an area of 1600 m². Its architectural design and concept have earned the museum the distinction of being the world’s first and only underground ceramic museum. The museum is open year-round, serving visitors during the day, while in the evenings, it is used as a special venue for elegant events such as dinner meetings, seminars, symposiums, cocktails, dance performances, Sufi whirling, and concerts, offering a mystical atmosphere.
